RSE referencedsingle-ended mode—all measurements are made with respect
to a common reference measurement system or a ground. Also called a
grounded measurement system.
RTSIbus real-timesystem integration bus—the National Instruments timing bus that
connects DAQdevices directly, by means of connectors on top of the
devices,for precise synchronization of functions
Ss seconds
S samples
sample counter the clock that counts the output of the channel clock, in other words, the
number of samples taken. On boards with simultaneous sampling, this
countercounts th eo utput of the scan clock and hence the number of scans.
scan oneor more analog samples taken at the same time, or nearly the same time.
Typically, the number of input samples in a scan is equal to the numberof
channels in the input group. For example, one scan, acquires one new
sample from everyanalog input channel in the group.
scanclock theclock controlling the time interval between scans.
scanrate the numberof scans a system takes during a given time period, usually
expressedin scans per second

SE single-ended—a term used to describe an analog input that is measured
with respect to a common ground
self-calibrating a property of a DAQboard that has an extremely stable onboard reference
andcalibrates its own A/D and D/A circuits without manual adjustments by

sensor ad evicethat converts a physical phenomenon into an electrical signal
settling time the amount of time required for a voltageto reach its final value within
specifiedaccuracy limits
signal conditioning the manipulation of signals to prepare them for digitizing
