Notes:
■You need to have either the optional handset or an ex- ternal telephone attached to the OKIFAX in order to use the voice request function.
■You can use the voice request function only when you are using the document feeder to send a fax directly to a single location. You cannot use it with memory, delayed, relay, or broadcast faxing.
■You cannot use the voice request function when your are operating the OKIFAX 5600 at transmission speeds greater than 14,400 bits per second.
To Initiate a Voice Request
1During a fax communication, press the Hook V Request key.
2When the other party answers your request, your OKIFAX emits a repetitive warbling sound. The display shows LIFT HANDSET, PRESS VOICE REQUEST.
3Lift your handset and press the Voice Request key.
Tip: If you press your Voice Request key to initiate a voice request in TX mode but no one is there to answer, your OKIFAX automatically sends a call back message to the re- mote site. This message includes a telephone number where you can be reached.
To Answer a Voice Request
Lift the handset and press the Hook V Request key.
