DISPLAYS

Blue Screen

The blue-screen display appears on the TV
screen when the VCR does not send a signal
to the TV from either the VHF/UHF CATV OUT
terminal or the AUDIO/VIDEO OUT jacks, such
as:
When you play unrecorded portions of a
tape
• When you tune the VCR to an unused
channel
Note: The VCR does not record the blue
screen.
Follow these steps to turn the blue screen on
or off.
1. Press TV/VCR so VCR appears on the
VCR’s display.
2. Press MENU to display the main menu.
3. Press to highl ight SET UP, then press
SET. The set up menu appears.
4. Press or to select BLUE SCREEN.
5. Press or to highlight ON or OFF.
6. Press SET.

Operation Displays

• Each time you press ON SCREEN, your
VCR’s current operating information
appears on the TV screen in this
sequence:
a. PLAY,
STOP,
FF, or REW
(if a cassette is inserted)
AUTO ENHANCE ON or OFF
Auto Repeat ON or OFF
Tape speed (SP, EP)
Channel
Date and Time
Tape counter
b. C ounter only
c. No display
d. Tape mode and/or the tuned channel for
about 3 seconds
When you press a function button (such as
STOP), the corresponding indicator
appears on the TV screen for about 3 sec-
onds.
When you change the channel, the chan-
nel number appears on the TV screen for
about 3 seconds.
Note: If you play back a poor quality (worn) or
damaged tape, the function indicator or chan-
nel number might not appear on the TV.

Auto Display

When you press an operation button ( PLAY,
RECORD, STOP, FF , or REW), a
number button, or CH or CH , the current
operating mode or a channel number appears
on the TV screen for about 3 seconds.
