Tape Motion Indicators

Any time a cassette is loaded in the compart-
ment, appears on the VCR’s display
whether power is on or off.
The tape motion indicators on the VCR’s dis-
play show you the current operating mode and
the tape’s playback direction.
MOTION CONTROLS

Fast-Forward/Rewind

To advance the tape quickly when it is stopped,
press FF (or turn the shuttle dial on the
VCR fully clockwise).
Caution: The shuttle dial on the VCR does not
rotate 360°. Do not force it past the point where
it stops.
To rewind the tape quickly when it is stopped,
press REW (or turn the shuttle dial on the
VCR fully counterclockwise, then release it).
Note: You cannot watch the tape’s v ideo or
hear the tape’s sound while you fast-forward or
rewind the tape.

Freeze-Frame

Freeze-frame lets you watch the tape a single
frame at a time.
To freeze the tape during playback, press
.
To advance the tape one frame at a time, re-
peatedly press .
To return to the normal playback speed, press
PLAY.
Notes:
You can also visua l search back ward or
forward from the freeze-frame mode (see
“Visual Search” on Page 29).
• Dependi ng on the tape speed used for
recording, the freeze-frame might have
reduced picture quality.
To protect the tape, if you leave the VCR in
the freeze-frame mode for 5 minutes, the
VCR automatically returns to normal play-
back.
If a horizontal “noise” bar appears during
freeze-frame, adjust the tracking in the
slow-motion mode (see “Variable-Speed
Slow Motion” on Page 29).
