To Obtain a Clear Picture

As a guideline, check every 1,000 hours.

The main unit is a high-tech, precision device. If the optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty or worn, the picture quality will be poor.

Regular inspection and maintenance are recommended after every 1,000 hours of use. (This depends on the operating environment.)

Notes on Moisture Condensation

Do not use the unit when moisture condensation may occur. If you use the unit in such a situation, it may damage discs and internal parts.

Moisture condensation occurs during the following cases.

•When you bring the unit directly from a cold place to a warm place.

•When you use the unit in a room where you just turned on the heater, or a place where the cold wind from the air conditioner directly hits the unit.

•When you use the unit in a hot and humid place just after you move the unit from an air conditioned room.

•When you use the unit in a humid place.

When moisture might condense on the unit…

1	Connect the power cord of the unit to the wall
	outlet.
	If the disc is in the unit remove the disc using

	[OPEN DISC].
	Press [ /ON] to turn on the unit.

	With the power ON, wait 1 ~ 2 hours before using.

What is moisture condensation?

When a cold liquid is poured into a glass, for example, water vapor in the air will condense on the surface of the glass. This is called moisture condensation.

When moisture might condense on the unit… Wait for about 2 hours, and start using after the disc has reached room temperature.

Handling, Storing and Cleaning Discs

•Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped from the signal surface of the disc (glossy side) with a soft cloth. Wipe in a straight motion from the center to the outside of the disc.

•Never use chemicals such as record cleaning sprays, antistatic sprays or fluids, benzene or thinner to clean the discs. These chemicals will permanently damage the plastic surface of the disc.

•To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.

•Discs should be returned to their cases after use to protect them from dust and scratches.

•To prevent warping the disc, do not expose it to direct sunlight, high humidity or high temperatures for extended periods of time.

•Do not apply paper or write anything on either side of the disc. Sharp writing instruments, or the inks used in some felt-tip pens, may damage the surfaces of the disc.
