Section 7. Optional Accessories

REAL TIME CLOCK

The Real Time ClockOption allows the date and time to be maintained in the local printer rat er than using the system clock. It consists of a special clock chip that replaces the EPROM on the main pcb assembly. A qualified technician should perform the upgrade as it requires modifications to the main PCB assembly. Please call SATO Technical Support if you need to add this option to an existing printer in the field.

By raising/lowering the voltage level on Pin 20 of the RS232C port, the printer notifies the host when it is ready to receive data. Pin 4 RTS and pin 20 DTR are the important signals on the printer for this method of flow control.
