airHaul2 Nexus PRO™ User Guide
2.5. Device Operation Mode
This section explains the configurations possible in the different modes. With dual radios, the airHaul2
Nexus PRO allows for maximum operation flexibility.
2.5.1 Repeater Mode Configuration
Normally, to extend the WLAN coverage of an access point, a repeater site with 2 single radio
backhauls will be used in a Root and Remote combination. This results in a degradation of the link
efficiency which could be due to several reasons: a single link with larger spacing gives lower
bandwidth, the Remote might not be in line of sight, etc.
However, with the dual radio airHaul2 Nexus PRO configured in Repeater Mode, it is possible to
extend WLAN coverage while still maintaining a higher bandwidth.
Figure 2-7 Repeater Mode
In the above diagram, we see that the airHaul2 Nexus PRO configured in Root Bridge Mode is
servicing an Internet backbone. One radio (Radio A) is configured as Root and the other radio (Radio
B) is configured as a Remote Bridge or Remote Router/NAT. In such a scenario, the backhaul link can
span up to 50 miles (80 km).
