If any of the above error messages is displayed, retry the white balance adjustment. If the error message occurs again, an internal check is necessary.
For information about this internal check, refer to the Maintenance Manual.
If you have no time to adjust the white balanceSet the WHITE BAL switch to PRST. The white balance is automatically set as follows, depending on the FILTER selector setting.
•
B: 3200K, C: 4300 K, D: 6300K
•
1: 3200 K, 3: 5600 K
For details about setting the white balance manually, see “To automatically adjust the white balance” on page 62.
White balance memoryValues stored in memory are held until the white balance is next adjusted.
There are two sets of white balance memories, A and B, and adjustments for each of the filters can be automatically stored in the memory corresponding to the setting (A or B) of the WHITE BAL switch. The camcorder has four builtin filters, so a total of eight (4 × 2) adjustments can be stored. The number of memories allocated to each of A and B can be limited to one by setting the WHT FILTER INH. item to “ON” on the FUNCTION 3 page of the MAINTENANCE menu. In this case, the memory contents are not linked to the filter settings.
If the WHITE BAL switch is set to B, and on the FUNCTION 2 page of the OPERATION menu, the WHITE SWITCH <B> item is set to “ATW”, the ATW function is activated to automatically adjust the white balance of the picture being shot for varying lighting conditions.
If a memory error occurs
If the error message “: STORED DATA : NG” flashes on the viewfinder screen when the camcorder is turned on, the white balance and black balance memory contents have been lost.
Adjust the white balance and black balance again. Contact your Sony representative if this message continues to appear even after the white balance and black balance have been adjusted again.
For details, refer to the Maintenance Manual.
