If the printed characters don’t match the characters on the
screen:
CheckDIP switches2-2to 2-4. Whenthese switchesarenot all ON (back),
an international character set is selectedand some ASCII symbols are
changed to other characters. SeeAppendix D.
Somesoftwareis notable todisplayinternational characters onthe screen.
If you use an international character set you may want to paste labels
on the keyboard.
Ifyou are using theIBM mode, check DIP switch1-7. Someinternational
cfiracters and-symbolsdo not print when this switch isOFF (front).
If some printer commands are ignored or executed incor-
rectly:
.Checkthat the setting of DIP switch 1-6matches the type of printer your
softwaresupports: ON (back) for Star or Epson; OFF (front) for IBM.
Afewcommands are mutually exclusive. For example, you cannot get
emphasizedcondensed printing.
If you have problems with horizontal tabulation:
Don’tChangethe marginsafter setting tabs.
Don’t change the print pitch after setting tabs. The physicalpositions
of the tab stopsdo not adjust to the new print pitch.
If you have problems with graphics:
If you are usingcommercial software,check that it supports this printer,
or aStar, Epson or IBM printer, and that DIP switch1-6 isset correctly:
ON (back) for Star or Epson;OFF (front) for IBM.
Useahex dumpto verifythe codesthe printeris receiving.Seethegraphics
command descriptionsin AppendixB. Some computersinsert unwanted
commands (suchas carnage returns and line feeds) in graphics data, or
changethe values of certain codes.
BASICprograms may require aWIDTH statement. Check your BASIC
manual.
If you have problems with download characters:
checkthatDIP switch 2-1 is OFF (front).
