Most printer commandsconsist of the escape code followed by one or
more letters or numbers. Someexamples are:
<ESC>WI Double-width characters
cESC>W() Normal width
<ESC>4 Italic
<ESC>5 Upright

You will probably not see the symbol <ESC>on the screen, but a
differentsymbolsuch as “E or ‘[, or perhaps no symbol atall. Thisdepends
on your software.
After printing the first page of alongjob, you may want to pause to
check that the printing is correctly formatted. Press the On Line switch,
setting the printer off-line. Printing will stop immediately. To resume
printing, pressthe On Line switch again.
Ifyou need to abandon aprinting jobbefore itis finished,your software
should provide acommand for this purpose. Another simpleexpedient is
to switchthe printer’s power off.
