7.5 Crossfade timesAs menti on e d ea rl ie r (5.6, “ Punch-i n and punch-
out”), digital punch recording requires that the origi-
nal a nd new signa l be cross faded ove r a short perio d
of time.
The factory default crossfade time for the DA-78HR
is 10 ms, and this can be adjusted in 10 millisecond
steps to a maxi mu m of 200 ms.
For the most part, 10 ms is an adequate value and
will produce sea ml es s pu nc h e s , bu t t here may be
times (matching reverb settings, etc.) when a longer
crossfade is required.
1Press the SHIFT key s o that the SHIFT indicator
is flashing, and press the MENU key until the

7.6 Vari speed (pitch control)The speed of recording and playback (and hence the
pitch) of the DA-78HR can be adjusted to 6% above
or bel ow norma l speed in 0.1% step s.
NOTE
You cannot operate the pitch control when the DA-
78HR is slaved to another unit, or synchronized to an
external word clock. If the clock is changed to exter-
nal while varispeed is on, the
VARI SPEED

will go out. The indicator will also go ou t if chasing is
enabl ed whi le vari s peed is on.
