4. OPERATION AND DISPLAY
4.2 Start up
WARNING
Do not operate the switches with wet hands. You may get an electr ic shock.
Do not operate the controller with the fr ont cover removed. High-voltage term inals
and charging area exposed and you m ay get an electric shock.
During power-on or operation, do not open the front cover. You may get an e lectric
shock.
CAUTION
Before starting operation, check the p arameters. Some machines may perfor m
unexpected operation.
Take safety measures, e.g. provide co vers, to prevent accidental contact of h ands
and parts (cables, etc.) with the ser vo amplifier heat sink, regenerati ve brake
resistor, servo motor, etc.since they may be hot while power is on or for some time
after power-off. Their temperatures m ay be high and you may get burnt or a par ts
may damaged.
During operation, never touch the rotat ing parts of the servo motor. Doing so can
cause injury.
Connect the servo motor with a machine after confirming that the servo motor operates properly alone.
(1) Power on
When the main and control circuit power supplies are switched on, "d1" (for the first axis) appears on
the servo amplifier display.
In the absolute position detect ion system, first power-on resul ts in the absolute position lo st (25) alarm
and the servo system cannot be switched on. This is not a failure and takes place due to the uncharged
capacitor in the encoder.
The alarm can be deactivated by keeping power on for a few minutes in the alarm status and then
switching power off once and on again.
Also in the absolute position detection system, if power is switched on at the servo motor speed of
500r/min or higher, position mismatch may occur due to external force or the like. Power must
therefore be switched on when the servo motor is at a stop.
(2) Parameter setting
Set the parameters according to the stru cture and specifications of the m achine. Refer to Chapter 5 for
the parameter definitions.
Parameter No. Name Setting Description
7 Rotation direction setting 0 Incre ase in positioning address rotates the
motor in the CCW direction.
8 Auto tuning 1Used.
9 Servo response 5 Slow response (initial value) is selected.
After setting the above parameters, switch power off once. Then switch power on again to make the set
parameter values valid.
