System Management

The System menu gives you a wealth of settings that you can use to configure your N299’s system administration functions. You can set up system notifications, view system logs, and even upgrade firmware from this menu.

System Notifications

From the System menu, choose the Notification item, and the Notification Configuration screen appears. This screen lets you have the N299 notify you in case of any system malfunction. Press Apply to confirm all settings. See following table for a detailed description of each item.

Notification Configuration

Description

Beep Notification

Enable or disable the system beeper that beeps when a problem

 

occurs.

Email Notification

Enable or disable email notifications of system problems.

SMTP Server

Specifies the hostname/IP address of the SMTP server.

Port

Specifies the port to send outgoing notification emails.

Auth Type

Select the SMTP Server account authentication type.

Sender Address

Set the sender mail address.

Sender Password

Enter the password for the sender’s mail account.

Confirm Password

Confirm a new password.

Receivers’ E-mail

Add one or more recipient’s email addresses to receive email

notifications.

Send Test Mail

Click to send out a test e-mail to make sure the settings are

 

correct.

NOTE

System Logs

Consult with your mail server administrator for email server information.

From the System menu, choose the Logs item and the System Logs screen appears. This screen shows a history of system usage and important events such as disk status, network information, and system booting. See the following table for a detailed description of each item:
