EMERGENCY FEATURE

EMERGENCY AUTOMATIC ID (EAI) FEATURE

The Emergency Automatic ID (EAI) Feature requires that you (1) store the CTCSS Tone Pair into the Receiving Pager Memory (see page 26 for procedure), and (2) store the desired coordination frequency into Memory Channel “200” (see page 29 for procedure).

To enable this feature:

1. Press the [F] key, then press the [0(SET)] key to enter the Set mode.

2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 52: EAI. 3. Press the [F] key momentarily to enable adjustment of this Set

Mode Item. 4. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the desired EAI mode (INTterval

EAI or CONtinuous EAI) and its transmit time (1-10, 15, 20,

30, 40, and 50 minutes) or OFF. 5. Press the PTT switch to save the new setting and exit to normal

operation.

6. To disable the Emergency Automatic ID feature, just repeat the above procedure, ro- tating the DIAL knob to select “OFF” in step 4 above.

When the Emergency Automatic ID feature is activated, the “” icon will blink in the LCD.

The VX-177 will ignore the EAI feature when the (1) the squelch is open, (2) there is an incoming the signal on the operating frequency, or (3) the operat- ing frequency is the same as the frequency which is stored in the Memory

Channel “200.”
