3. Install:
big end bearings 1
connecting rods 2
connecting rod caps 3
(onto the crankshaft pins)
Align the projections on the big end bearings
with the notches in the connecting rods and
connecting rod caps.
Be sure to reinstall each big end bearing in its
original place.
Make sure that the “Y” marks a on the con-
necting rods face towards the left side of the
crankshaft.
Make sure that the characters b on both the
connecting rod and connecting rod cap are
aligned.
4. Align:
bolt heads 1
(with the connecting rod caps)
5. Tighten:
connecting rod nuts
Connecting rod nuts
36 Nm (3.6 mkg)
When tightening the connecting rod nuts,
be sure to use an F-type torque wrench.
Without pausing, tighten the connecting
rod nuts to the specified torque. Apply con-
tinuous torque between 2.0 and 3.6 mkg.
Once you reach 2.0 mkg DO NOT STOP
TIGHTENING unitl the specified torque is
reached. If the tightening is interrupted be-
tween 2.0 and 3.6 mkg, loosen the con-
necting rod nut to less than 2.0 mkg and
start again.
