9-4 WIRE LENGTH

When long Lvires are used between the generator and a load, the resistance of each wire increases and a voltage drop occurs. Consequently. the input voltage to the load declines and occasionall!- damagesthe load.

Exercise caution Lvhen deciding on wire length. For reference. the table below shows the voltage decreasesthat occur in 100 m (300 ftt) long wires with different cross sectional areasand varied resistances.
