Hard Disk Drive Activity Light Does Not Light

If you have installed one or more hard disk drives in your system, check the following:

θAre the power and signal cables to the drive properly installed?

θAre all relevant switches and jumpers on the hard drive and adapter board set correctly?

θIs the onboard IDE controller enabled? (IDE hard drives only)

θIs the hard disk drive properly configured?

NOTE

Front panel hard disk LED indicates IDE and SCSI devices: The hard disk drive activity light on the front panel lights when either an IDE hard disk drive, or a SCSI device, is in use. This LED does not display CD-ROM activity.

CD-ROM Drive Activity Light Does Not Light

Check the following:

θAre the power and signal cables to the CD-ROM drive properly installed?

θAre all relevant switches and jumpers on the drive set correctly?

θIs the drive properly configured?

θIs the onboard IDE controller enabled?

NOTE

Front panel hard disk LED indicates IDE and SCSI devices: The hard disk drive activity light on the front panel lights when either an IDE hard disk drive, or a SCSI device, is in use. This LED does not display CD-ROM activity.

Cannot Connect to a Server

θMake sure you are using the drivers that are shipped on the system Configuration Software CD for the onboard network controller.

θMake sure the driver is loaded and the protocols are bound.

θMake sure the network cable is securely attached to the connector at the system back panel and that the network controller Link LED is on (visible at back panel). If the cable is attached but the problem persists, try a different cable.

θMake sure the hub port is configured for the same duplex mode as the network controller.

θCheck with your LAN administrator about the correct networking software that needs to be installed.

θIf you are directly connecting two servers (no hub), you will need a crossover cable (see your hub documentation for more information on crossover cables).
