6. Reinstall the switcher’s cover. See Closing the switcher above.
5. To plug the cable into the desired receptacle, align the holes in the connector with the pins in the receptacle, and press evenly until the receptacle tabs lock into place.
To remove the cable from the current receptacle, press the two receptacle tabs

Closing the switcher

Place the top cover (CrossPoint Plus 84, 88, 124, and 128) and/or front cover

 

(all models) in place and replace all the screws removed in Opening the

 

switcher on page B-2.

Swapping the serial ports

The CrossPoint Plus switchers are factory configured for RS-232 use. If you want to use RS-422 and the switcher is configured for RS-232, or if you want to use RS-232 and the switcher is configured for RS-422, do the following:

1.Follow the appropriate instructions in Opening the Switcher on page B-2 to gain access to the interior of your switcher.

2.Locate the switcher’s front panel board (figure B-3).

CAUTION

Do not touch the components inside the switcher without being electrically grounded. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage ICs, even if you cannot feel, see, or hear it.

3.On the side of the front panel board that faces the rear of the switcher, locate the RS-232 ribbon cable. The RS-422 ribbon cable receptacle, which is normally empty, is located to the left of the RS-232 ribbon cable receptacle.
