If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.

		Display message			Cause & solution

					● There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service

					personnel.

					● The shipping lock is locked. Unlock the shipping lock (p. 13).
		CARRIAGE ERROR
		/			If the display messages still remain after unlocking, there is

					something wrong with the carriage sensor. Contact our service

					● There is something wrong with the drum unit. Replace the drum

					unit and the toner cartridge (p. 70).

					● The ADF cable is not connected correctly. Check the connection

					(p. 13).

					● The document was not fed into the unit properly. Reinsert the
		CHECK DOCUMENT
					document. If misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the document
					feeder rollers (p. 76) and try again.

					● The drum unit is not inserted properly. Reinsert it correctly (p. 14).

					● The memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has been

					● The ADF cover is open. Close it.

					sending faxes, print out the document in memory (p. 42) or cancel
					the delayed transmission (feature #25 on page 60) and try again.

					● There is no space to store new entries in navigator directory.
		DIRECTORY FULL
					Erase unnecessary entries (p. 26).

					● Recording paper was not fed into the unit properly. Reinsert the

					recording paper (p. 73).

					● The unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed
		FAX IN MEMORY
					message instructions to print out the document.

					● The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
		FAX MEMORY FULL			● The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
					recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install paper (p.17) or
					clear the jammed paper (p. 72).
					● When performing memory transmission, the document being
					stored exceeds the memory capacity of the unit. Transmit the
					entire document manually.
