Cleaning the engine and mufﬂer

Keep the engine and mufﬂer free from grass cuttings and dirt. Grass cuttings steeped in petrol or oil on the engine can increase the ﬁre risk and impair cooling.

Allow the engine to cool before cleaning. If the dirt is mixed with oil, remove it using a degreasing agent oth- erwise just water and a brush.

Grass cuttings around the mufﬂer dry quickly and con- stitute a ﬁre risk. Brush or wash them off when the muf- ﬂer is cold.

Checking the transmission air intake

Check to ensure that the air intake valve to the transmission is not clogged.
