Force a Checkpoint

-s Option
The -s option is equivalent to theDB-M onitor Graceful-Shutdown option.
Onceyou execute the -s option, you cannot cancel the request. A prompt asks
forconfirmation. If you want to eliminate this prompt, execute the -y option
with the-s option. Refer to page 3-10 for more details about what happens
when you execute this command.

-u Option

The-u option is equivalent to the DB-Monitor Immediate-Shutdown option.
A prompt asks for confirmation. If you want to eliminate this prompt,
execute the -y option with the-u option. Refer to page 3-11 for more details
about what happens when you execute this command.
Force a Checkpoint
The -c option is equivalent to theDB-M onitor Force-Ckpt option. You might
usethe -c option to force a checkpoint if the most-recent checkpoint record in
the logical log was preventing the logical log file from being freed (status
U-L). For more details about this situation, refer topage 3-39.
-c forces a checkpoint.
