Logging in to the

Switch

This section describes how to log in to the switch.
Setting up
Configuration
Environment through
the Console Port
Perform the following procedure to set up the configuration environment through
the console port.
1To set up the local configuration environment, connect the serial port of a PC (or a
terminal) to the console port of the Switch with the console cable (see Figure 2).

2Run terminal emulator (such as Terminal on Windows 3X or the Hyper Terminal on
Windows 9X) on the PC. Set the terminal communication parameters as follows:
Baud rate = 19200
Databit = 8
Parity check = none
Stopbit = 1
Flow control = none
Terminal type = VT100
