To use your programs most effectively, follow these guidelines:

You’ll probably want to buy and install additional programs. See the manuals you receive with your programs for instructions on installing and using them.

In most cases, you’ll install an application program on your internal hard disk from floppy disks that contain the program. The illustration shows how to insert a floppy disk into your computer’s disk drive.

Insert the floppy disk, metal end first, into the floppy disk drive of your computer.

For instructions on how to eject floppy disks, see the “Disks” topic of Macintosh Guide, available in the Guide (h) menu.

To use your programs most effectively, follow these guidelines:

mPut only one copy of each program on your hard disk. Having more than one copy can cause errors.

mWhenever you copy a program disk to your hard disk, be careful not to copy a System Folder. Always check to see what you’ve copied, and drag any extra System Folders to the Trash.

mIf a program malfunctions consistently, try installing a fresh copy. If that doesn’t help, find out from the software manufacturer whether your version of the program is compatible with the system software you’re using.
