Expander Board
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.
Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
andsupport team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
withthe product.

Removing the Expander Board

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the system from its electrical outlet.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 53.

Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on
page54.

Disconnect all cooling fan power cables.

Remove the cooling fan assembly. See "Removing a Cooling Fan Assembly"
on page 82.

Disconnect the SATA cables, the IPMB cable, and the power cable.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the drives and backplane, you must remove
thehard drives from the system before removing the backplane.
CAUTION: You must note the number of each hard drive and temporarily label
them before removal so that you can replace them in the same locations.

Remove the screws that secure the expander board. See Figure3-21.

Lift the expander board clear of the system.
