Installing the Expander Board

Insert the expander board in the direction of the arrow until it is seated in
the system.

Replace all the hard drives in the system. See "Installing a Hard-Drive
Carrier" on page 52.

Replace the cooling fan assembly and secure with the two screws.

Connect all cooling fan power cables.
5
Connect the four SATA cables, the IPMB cable, and the power cable.

Replace the cooling shroud. See "Installing the Cooling Shroud" on
page55.

Replace the system cover. See "Closing the System" on page54.

Reconnect the system and peripherals to their electrical outlets,
andturn on the system.
Backplane CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.
Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
andsupport team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
withthe product.
Removing the Backplane

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the system from its electrical outlet.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 53.

Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on
page54.
4
Disconnect all cooling fan power cables.
5
Remove the two screws holding the fan assembly in place and
removethe assembly.
