3.10 S ERVICE HYDRAULIC OIL
The machine is shipped with hydraulic oil in the reser voir. Run the machine for
approximately 15 minutes to allow any extra air to purge out of the hydraulic
system. Check hydraulic re ser voir and if necessary f ill t he r eservoir to the
appropriate level with Mobil 1 15W-50 synthet ic m otor oil. Replace hydraulic
reservoir cap and tig ht en until snug. Do not overtighten.
NOTE: The baf fle is labeled “HOT” and “CO L D” . The oil level varies with the
temperature of the oil. The “HOT” level shows the level of oil when it is at 225°F
(107°C). The “COLD” level shows the level of t he oil when it is at 75°F ( 24°C).
Fill to the appropriate level depending upon the temperat ur e of the oil. For
example: If the oil is about 150° F ( 65° C) . Fill to halfway between the “HOT” and
“COLD” levels. I f the oil is at room t em perature ( about 75° F (24°C)), fill only to
the “CO LD” level.

4. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

4.1 CONTROLS
4.1.1 Familiarize yourself with all contro ls before oper at ing the mower.
4.1.2 Motion Control Levers: Located on each side of the console.
The left lever controls the flow of hydraulic oil from t he left hydrost at ic pum p t o
the lef t drive wheel motor. T he right lever cont r ols the flow of hydraulic oil from
the right hydrost atic pump to the r ight drive wheel motor.
IMPORTANT: To begin movement (forward or backward) the operator must
be in the seat, the brake lever must be disengaged (pushed down) bef ore
the motion control levers can be moved in or the engine will kill.
When levers are centered in the T-slot t he drive system is in the neutral posit ion.
Wit h levers m o ved out in t he T-slot t he dr ive system is in the neut ral lock
position (See Fig ur e 6).
FIGURE 6
MOTION CONTROL POSITIONS
By moving both levers an equal amount forward or back f r om t he neutral position
the machine can be caused to m ove forward or backward in a str aight line.
Movement of the left lever f orw ard will cause the left drive wheel to rotate in a
for ward direct ion. Movement of the right lever forward will cause the right
drive wheel to rotate in a forward direction. To stop forward travel, pull t he
levers back to the neutral posit ion.
To turn left while moving for ward, m ove the l ef t lever back toward neutral to
slow the left dr ive wheel. To turn right while moving forward, move the right
lever back t o ward neutr al to slow the right drive wheel.
To make a zero turn to the left, pull the left lever back beyond neutral while
holding the r ight lever slig ht ly ahead of neutral.
To make a zero turn to the right, pull the rig ht lever back beyond neutral while
holding the left lever slightly ahead of neut ral.
