d) If the oil level is low, add oil to bring the oil level up t o t he “FULL” mark on
the dipstick . Use oil as specified in the Engine Owner’s Manual.
DO NOT overfill.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT operate the engine w ith the oil level below the
“LOW” (or “ADD”) mark on the dipst i ck, or over the “FULL” mark.
5.1.2 Clean engine air cooling system:
Service Interval : Dai l y or more of t en in dry conditions
CAUTION
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Excessive debris can cause the engine and hydraulic
system to overheat.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Excessive debris around the engine cooling air intake
and inside of t he pum p com par tment can creat e a fire
hazard.
HOW TO AVOID T HE HAZARD
Clean all debris f r om around the engine and hydraulic
pumps daily.
a) Stop engine, wait for all moving parts t o st op, and remove key.
b) Clean all debris from rot a t ing engine air int ake screen and from around
engine shrouding.
5.1.3 Check batt er y charge:
Service Interval : M ont hly
Allowing batteries to st and for an extended period without r echar ging them will
result in reduced per formance and service life. T o pr eserve optimum batt er y
perf or m ance and life, re char ge batteries in st or age when the open circuit voltage
drops to 12.4 volts.
Note: T o pr event dam age due to freezing, battery should be fully charg ed before
putting away for winter stor age.
a) Check the voltage of the battery with a digital voltm eter. Locate the voltage
reading of the batt ery in the table below and charge the batt e r y for the
recommended t im e int erval to bring the charge up to a full charg e of 12.6
volts or greater.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the negative battery cables are disconnected
and the batter y charg er used for charging the bat t er y has an output of 16
volts and 7 amps or less to avoid damag ing the batter y (see char t below for
recommended charger setting s) .
Voltage
Reading Percent
Charge Maximum
Charger Set t ings Charging Interval
12.6 or g r eater 100% 16 volts/7 amps No Charging Required
12.4 – 12.6 75 – 100% 16 volts/7 amps 30 Minutes
12.2 – 12.4 50 – 75% 16 volts/7 amps 1 Hour
12.0 – 12.2 25 – 50% 14.4 volts/4 amps 2 Hours
11.7 – 12.0 0 – 25% 14.4 volts/4 amps 3 Hours
11.7 or less 0% 14.4 volts/2 amps 6 Hours or More
5.1.4 Clean grass build- up under deck.
Service Interval: Daily
a) Stop engine, wait for all moving par t s t o stop, and remove k ey.
