IMPORTANT: Bef o r e reinstalling new f ilter, fill it with Mobil 1 15W-50 and
apply a thin coat of oil on the surf ace of the rubber seal.
Turn t he filter clockwise until rubber seal contact s the filt er adapter then
tight en t he filter an addit ional 2/ 3 to 3/4 turn .
e) Fill reservoir as stat ed in Sect ion 5.1.11.
f) Raise the rear of machine up and support with jack stands (or equivalent
support) j u st high enough to allow drive wheels to turn freely.
g) Start engine and move throt tle control ahead to full thr ottle position. Move
the speed control levers t o the full speed and r un for several minut es. Shut
down machine and recheck oil level.
Do not change hydraulic system oil ( except for what can be drained when
changing filter), unless it is felt the oil has been cont am inated or been
extremely hot.
Changing oil unnecessari ly could damage hydraulic system by
introducing cont am inates into the system.
5.1.24 Wheel hub - slotted nut torque specification.
When t ightening t he slotted nut on the wheel motor t apered shaft :
a) Torque the slotted nut to 125 ft . lbs (169 N-M).
b) Check distance from bottom of slot in nut t o inside edge of hole. Two
threads (0. 1” ) or less should be showing.
c) If m or e than two threads (0.1” ) ar e showing r em ove nut and inst all washer
(PN 1-523157) bet ween hub and nut.
d) Torque the slotted nut to 125 ft . lbs (169 N-M)
e) Then tig ht en the nut until the next set of slots line up with the cross hole in
the shaf t .
f) Replace cotter pin.
Note: Do not use antiseize on the wheel hub.
5.1.25 Fuel Tank – mounting hardware specification.
When inst alling the nuts ont o t he fuel tank studs, fully tighten t he nyloc nut and
back off 1/ 2 turn. T his allows f o r nor m al fuel tank expansion and contraction with
changes in tem per at ure and fuel levels.
5.1.26 Thread locking adhesives such as “Loctite 242” or “Fel-Pro, Pro-Lock Nut Type”
are used on the following fastener s:
a) Pump drive sheave setscrews.
b) Square head set scr ews on Hydro pump control ar ms.
c) Sheave retaining bolt in the end of engine crankshaft.
d) Caster wheel spacer nuts (See Section 5. 1.16)
e) Fuel tank bulkhead fit ting threads.
f) Cutter housing spindle nut
Adhesives such as “Loctite RC/609 or RC/ 680” or “Fel-Pr o Pr o-Lock Retaining I
or Retaining I I” are used on the following:
b) Fuel tank st uds where studs ar e inser t ed into tank.
5.1.27 Mobil HTS grease (or food-grade antisieze) is used in the following locations:
a) Between the cutter housing spindle and bearings.
b) Between the cutter housing spindle and sheave.
c) Under top cutt er housing bearing guard.
