CAUTION
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Operating a mower deck with loose or weakened blade
bolts can be danger ous.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
A loose or weakened blade bolt could allow a blade
rotating at a high speed to come out from under t he deck,
causing serious injur y or pr oper ty damage.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Always re-install original Exmar k blades, blade bushings,
spring disc washers, and blade bolts in t he cor r ect
positions as shown.
5.1.6 Check safety interlock system.
Service Interval: Daily
a) Check starting cir c uit . Starter should crank with parking br ake engaged,
PTO disengaged and motion contr ol levers moved out in the neutral lock
position. T he oper at or does not need to be in the seat to start the engine.
Try to start with operat or i n seat, parking br ake disengaged, PTO
disengaged and motion cont r ol levers in the neutral lock position - starter
must not crank.
Try to start with operat or i n seat, parking br ake engaged, PTO engaged and
motion contr ol levers in the neutral lock position - starter must not crank.
Try to start with operat or i n seat, parking br ake engaged, PTO
disengaged, and the l ef t mot ion control lever in, starter must not
crank, repeat again with the right lever in, t hen with both l evers i n -
starter must not crank.
b) Check k ill circuits. Run eng ine at one-third t hr o t tle, disengage park ing
brake and rai se of f of seat (but do not get of f of m achine) engine must
stop af t er approx. 1/2 second has elapsed (seat has tim e delay k ill switch
to prevent cut-outs on rough terrain).
Run engine at one- t h ir d t hrottle, engage PTO and raise off of seat (but do
not get off of machine) engine must stop after 1/2 second has elapsed.
Run engine at one- t hird throttle, with brake disengaged, move levers in and
raise of f seat (but do not get off of machine) engine must st op after 1/ 2
second has elapsed.
Again, r un engine at one-thir d t h r ot tle, brake engaged, and move left
motion control lever in - engine must stop.
Repeat again m oving t he right lever in, then m oving bot h l evers in -
engine must st op whether oper at or is on seat or not.
NOTE: If machine does not pass any of these tests, do not operate.

IMPORTANT: It i s essent ial that operator safety mechanisms be connected
and in proper operating condit i on prior to use for mowing.
5.1.7 Check rollover pr ot ections systems (roll bar) pins

a) Make sure latch pin and hair pin ar e fully installed and lanyard is in good
condition.
