Brake must be engaged, moti on cont rol levers out (neutral lock position)
and PTO swit ch “O FF” t o st art engine. (It is not necessary for t he oper ator to
be in the seat to st ar t the engine. )
4.1.9 Hour Meter: Located on the r ig ht fuel t ank.
The hour meter is connected to a pr essure switch installed in the engine block
and it records t he num ber of hours t hat the engine has run. I f ignition switch is
left on without engine running, hour meter will not r un.
NOTE: This switch is not a low oil sensor and will not alert the operat or if the
engine oil is low.
4.1.10 Fuel Shut-Off Valve: Located directly below center of console.
The fuel shut-off valve is used to shut off the fuel when the machine will not be
used for a few days, during transpor t to and f r om the jobsite, and when park ed
inside a building. The valve has three positions, each position m ade in 1/4
turn increments.
Valve handle down is the “OFF” position. Rot a t e valve handle 1/4 tur n right
(f r om “Off” position) for fuel flow from the right tank. Rotat e valve handle 1/4
turn left (from “Of f” posit ion) for fuel f low f r om the left tank.
4.1.11 Fuel Gauge: Locat ed on t he left fuel tank.
The fuel gaug e m onit ors the amount of f uel in the left t ank only. Use the fuel
fr om t he right fuel tank first . When the right fuel t ank is empty switch to the left
fuel t ank. Fuel g auge will monitor the remaining fuel.
4.1.12 Drive Wheel Release Valves: Locat ed on t he r ight f r ont cor ner of t he hydrostat ic
pumps. Drive wheel release valves are used to release the hydrostat ic drive
system to allow the machine to be pushed without the engine running. Unhook
seat latch and tilt seat up to g ain access t o pum ps.
Wit h a 5/ 8 wrench, t ur n both valves one turn counter-clockwise to release drive
system.
Turn clockwise to reset system. DO NOT overtighten. DO NOT tow machin e.

4.2 PRE-START

4.2.1 Fill fuel t anks. For best r esults use only clean, fresh regular grade unleaded
gasoline with an octane rat ing of 87 or higher. Reg ular grade leaded gasoline may
also be used; however, combustion chamber and cylinder head will requir e m ore
fr equent service. See Eng ine O wner's Manual. DO NOT add oil to g asoline.
Do Not overf ill fuel tank. Never f ill the fuel t ank so that the fuel level rises above a
level that is 1/2” below the bott o m of the filler neck to allow for fuel expansion and
prevent f uel spillage.
4.2.2 Make sure you understand the contr ols, their locations, their funct ions, and t heir
safet y requirements.
4.2.3 Refer t o Maintenance, Sect ion 5, and perfor m all t he necessary inspection and
maintenance steps.

4.3 MOWING

4.3.1 Operate unit s with the r oll bar in t he raised and locked position and use seat belt.
There is no r ollover protection when the roll bar is down. If it is necessary to
lower roll bar do not wear the seat belt . Raise the roll bar as soon as clearance
permits.
4.3.2 Open f uel shut -off valve (left or right tank ).
