Caution!

Slot covers must be installed on all vacant expansion slots. This maintains the electromagnetic emissions (EMI) characteristics of the system and ensures proper cooling of system components.

6.Hold the expansion card by its top edge or upper corners. Firmly press it into an expansion slot on the system board. The tapered foot of the board retaining bracket must fit into the mating slot in the expansion slot frame.

a.Install an ISA board component-side up.

b.Install a PCI board component-side down.

7.Replace the screw you removed when you removed the slot cover to secure the card in the slot.

8.Attach cables to the card if necessary.

9.Replace the rear foam pad.

10.Reinstall the access panel using the original screws (see “Installing the Access Cover” on page 8).

11.Running the SSU is optional after you install or remove a PCI or ISA board.

Removing an Expansion Card

Remember that removing an ISA expansion card may require you to use the SSU to remove it from the system configuration.

To Remove an Expansion Card

1.Observe the safety and ESD precautions in “Static Electricity Precautions” on page 2.

2.Remove the access cover (“Opening the System” on page 3), and the rear foam pad.

3.Disconnect any cables attached to the board you are removing.

4.Remove and save the screw that secures the board in its slot.

5.Holding the board by its top edge or upper corners, carefully pull it out. Do not scrape the board against other components.

6.Store the board in an antistatic protective wrapper.
