What is CableCARD, and how does it work?

HP HDTVs with CableCARD (certain countries/regions only) slots can accept a small card from your cable company that allows you to receive standard-definition and high-definition digital broadcasts without the need

for a set-top box. When a CableCARD is inserted into the television, it enables delivery of digital video programming and other services. CableCARDs are provided directly by the cable operator to customers who request them. CableCARD functionality includes copy protection and signal demodulation.
