List Views

The following sections describe how to add individual devices to the central node database, and how to edit the display properties of any node.

Adding a Device

In order to add a device to the central node database, you must have a List View or Tree View open and active in the primary window. If a map view is active, an inserted device must be placed in the map before it is added to the database; if no view is open, the insert device options will not be available. For more information on maps, see Chapter 6, Creating Network Maps.

To add a new device to the node database:

1.In the primary window menu bar, select Insert—>Device.

or

In the toolbar, click the Insert Device icon. or

Anywhere within an active view, right-clickand select New Device, from the resulting menu.

Click the right mouse button anywhere in an active view to launch the pop-up menu.
