Playing Back a Tape

Playing Back a Tape

You can play back type I tapes.

1 Push ) (PUSH OPEN).

The cassette holder opens.

2 Put a cassette in with the exposed part of the tape down.

3 Push ) (PUSH OPEN) gently to close the cassette holder.

4 Press TAPE 2 3.

The unit automatically turns on and the tape play starts from the front side.

Each time you press the button, the tape direction changes as follows:

:Plays the front side (left to right).

:Plays the reverse side (right to left).

When the tape plays to the end, the deck automatically

stops if the reverse mode is set to To play both sides—Reverse mode or – 30 –Manual background. (See “To play both sides—Reverse mode” in the right column.)

To stop during play, press 7.

To fast-wind to the left, press 4.

To fast-wind to the right, press ¢.

To remove the cassette, push ) (PUSH OPEN).

DO NOT push ) (PUSH OPEN) during tape play.

To play both sides—Reverse mode

You can set the deck to play just one side or both sides of a tape once, or both sides continuously.

Press REV.MODE.

Each time you press the button, the reverse mode changes as follows:

Manual background : Plays back only one side (front or reverse). Manual background : Plays back the front and reverse sides once. Manual backgroundManual background: Plays back both front and reverse sides

continuously.

To change the information shown in the main display

On the remote control ONLY:

Each time you press DISP/CHARA, the information in the main display alternates between the source indication and the clock indication.

If an MD is inserted, the MD remaining recording time (“REC REMAIN”) is shown before the clock indication.

• The use of the C-120 or thinner tape is not recommended, since characteristic deterioration may occur and this tape easily jams in the pinch rollers and the capstans.

You can also play back type II and type IV tapes, however, the sound quality (tone) may not be reproduced properly.
