DVD-ROM & CD-R/RW drive

Q. I can’t remove the disc (the disc won’t eject).
A. While data is being saved on a CD-R/CD-RW medium, the disc tray will not pop out even if
you press the Eject button. Wait until the data save operation is completed.
Tip
If the disc tray fails to pop out even when you press the Eject button, push a sharp-pointed
object (such as a paper clip) into the Eject hole on the left of the Eject button.
Q. Although a disc has been inserted, sound is skipped in places or data cannot be

loaded or saved.

A. Check out the following items.
Did you insert the disc with its label side facing up?
Is the disc or the lens in the drive dirty?
If either one is dirty, clean it. (Page 110)
Is the disc scratched?
Replace the current disc with another disc to confirm that nothing is wrong with the PC.
Is there any dirt on the PC's turntable?
If it is dirty, clean it. (Page 110)
Is there any condensation in the PC or on the disc?
If condensation is present, remove the disc, and leave it standing for about an hour.
Is the format of the disc you are using supported by the drive?
Use a disc with one of the markings listed in “Types of discs supported” on Page 62.
Have any stickers or other labels been stuck on the top side of the disc?
If stickers or other labels have been stuck on the disc, the rotational balance may be lost or
the recording surface may be warped so that data cannot be loaded or saved properly.
