Using the Manual Mode Menu (Cont’d)

Taking pictures with AF (focus) lock

If you press ￿ while activating focus lock (pressing the shutter button half- way on page 41), the focus setting locks and the icon appears on the LCD monitor. The setting becomes effective even after you take a shot.

* To cancel the AF-lock, turn the camera’s power OFF or press the Zoom or ￿ button.

Taking pictures with AE (exposure) lock

If you press ￿ while activating focus lock (pressing the shutter button half- way on page 41), the exposure setting locks and the icon appears on the LCD monitor. The setting becomes effective even after you take a shot.

*To cancel the AE-lock, turn the camera’s power OFF, press the Zoom button, or change the white balance setting.

Changing the white balance setting

You can select the white balance mode by pressing ￿. Each time you press ￿, the mode alters, and the selected mode is displayed on the LCD monitor. For information on displayed icons and white balance modes, see page 73.

Using exposure compensation

Pressing the ￿ button when you take a pictures displays the exposure compensation setting on the LCD monitor. Exposure can be corrected with

￿or ￿ button. The exposure compensation can be adjusted ±2.0EV in 1/3 EV increments either side of the default setting.

*Each time you press the ￿ button, the function of the ￿ and ￿ buttons changes. Pressing the ￿ button again changes the functions of the ￿ and ￿ buttons to Macro mode (￿) and Flash mode (￿) respectively.

*You can restore the normal white balance setting by pressing the ￿ button.
