Ifyouwanttochangethesettingsofthengerprintreader,followtheprocedurebelow.
ThengerprintsubmenuundertheSecuritymenuoftheThinkPadSetupoffersthefollowingchoices:
•PredesktopAuthentication:Enablesordisablesngerprintauthenticationbeforetheoperatingsystem
isloaded.
•ReaderPriority:Denesthepriorityforngerprintreadersifanexternalngerprintreaderisattached.
•SecurityMode:Speciesthesettingsofthesecuritymode.
•PasswordAuthentication:Enablesordisablespasswordauthentication.
Note:ThisitemappearsifHighsecuritymodeisselected.
•ResetFingerprintData:Bychoosingthisitem,youeraseallofthengerprintdatastoredineitherthe
internalorexternalngerprintreader.
Tosetaniteminthengerprintsubmenu:
1.Printtheseinstructions.T ocongurethengerprintreader,youmustturnyourcomputeroffand
thenonagain.
2.Saveallopenles,andexitallapplications.
3.Turnyourcomputeroffandthenonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupopens.
5.Usingthecursorkeys,movetoSecurity,andpressEnter.TheSecuritymenuopens.

Thefollowingactionscoulddamagethengerprintreaderorcauseitnottoworkproperly:
•Scratchingthesurfaceofthereaderwithahard,pointedobject.
•Scrapingthesurfaceofthereaderwithyourngernailoranythinghard.
•Usingortouchingthereaderwithadirtynger.
Ifyounoticeanyofthefollowingconditions,gentlycleanthesurfaceofthereaderwithadry,soft,lint-free
cloth:
•Thesurfaceofthereaderisdirtyorstained.
•Thesurfaceofthereaderiswet.
•Thereaderoftenfailstoenrollorauthenticateyourngerprint.
Ifyourngerhasanyofthefollowingconditions,youmaynotbeabletor egisterorauthenticateit:
