Screenblank.Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffpowertothe
display,doasfollows:
1.P ressFn+F3.Apanelforselectingapowerplan(inWindowsXP,powerscheme)appears.
2.SelectPoweroffdisplay(keepcurrentpowerplan)(inWindowsXP,keepcurrentpowerscheme).

Sleep(standbyinWindowsXP).Insleep(standby)mode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthe
solidstatedriveortheharddiskdriveandthecomputerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputer
wakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Toputyourcomputerintosleep(standby)mode,pressFn+F4.Toreturnfromsleep(standby)mode,
presstheFnkey.
Hibernation.Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavinglesor
exitingfromanyapplicationsthatarerunning.Whenyouenterhibernation,allopenapplications,folders,
andlesaresavedtotheharddisk,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.T oenterhibernation,pr essFn+F12.
Toresumeyoursession,pressthepowerbuttonfornomorethan4seconds.
Whenyouarenotusingthewirelessfeatures,suchasBluetoothorwirelessLAN,turnthemoff.Thiswill
helpconservepower.Toturnoffthewirelessfeatures,pressFn+F5.
Enablingthewakeupfunction
Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmode,andthewakeupfunctionisdisabled(thisisthedefault
setting),thecomputerdoesnotconsumeanypower.Ifthewakeupfunctionisenabled,itconsumesasmall
amountofpower.Toenablethefunction,doasfollows:
ForWindows7andWindowsVista:
1.ClickStartControlPanelSystemandSecurity(inWindowsVista,SystemandMaintenance).
2.ClickAdministrativeTools.
3.ClickTaskScheduler.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.F romtheleftpane,selectthetaskfolderforwhichyouwanttoenablethewakeupfunction.The
scheduledtasksaredisplayed.
5.Clickascheduledtask,andthenclicktheConditionstab.
6.UnderPower,selectthecheckboxforWakethecomputertorunthistask.

2.ClickScheduledTasks.Thescheduledtasksaredisplayed.
