modemusesadigitalsignalprocessor(DSP),anditssoftwarecanbeupgraded,allowinggreatexibility.
Youcanusethemodemonlyonapublic-switchedtelephonenetwork(PSTN).Youcannotuseaprivate
branche xchange(PBX)orsomeothertypeofdigitaltelephoneextensionline.Ifyouconnectthemodemto
alineotherthanPSTN,anerr ormessageappears,preventingyoufromusingtheline.Ifyouarenotsure
whichkindofphonelineyouareusing,contactyourtelephonecompany .
