Using the Nortel Application SwitchElement Manager
Overview The Nortel Application Switch Element Manager (ASEM) provides a
graphical user interface (GUI) for remotely managing a Nortel Application
Switch through the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This
document provides an overview of how to use theASEM.

Setting ASEM Properties

ASEM uses the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to configure
and manage a Nortel Application Switch. The ASEM Properties screen is
used to configure parameters used to communicate with a switch. These
parameters include polling interval, time-out, and retry count. These
parameters are set at any time beforeor after a device is opened.
Toset the properties in the ASEM Properties screen, follow this procedure:
Step Action
1From the ASEM menu, select Nortel ASEM > Properties. This
screen is illustrated in "Properties Screen" (page 6).
