Recording

Cannot record pictures. ●●Built-in memory/card is full.

→ Free space by deleting unwanted pictures (→55).

●●You may not be able to record for a short while after turning this unit on when using a large capacity card.

Recorded pictures look white. ●●Lens is dirty (fingerprints, etc.).

Turn the camera off, retract the lens barrel and gently wipe the lens surface with a soft dry cloth. ●●Lens is foggy (→7).

Recorded pictures are too bright/too dark.

→ Adjust the exposure (→82).

●●[Min. Shtr Speed] is set to fast speed. Check the setting (→149).

Some pictures are taken when I press the shutter button just once. ●●Camera is set to use [WB Adjust.], [Auto Bracket] or [Burst].

●●Is the Self-Timer (→86) set to [10s / 3pictures]?

Focus not aligned correctly.

●●Not set to mode appropriate for distance to subject. (Focus range varies according to recording mode.)

●●Subject outside of focus range. (→101)

●●Caused by jitter or subject movement. (→28)

Recorded pictures are blurred. The stabilizer function ineffective.

●●Shutter speed is slower in dark locations and the stabilizer function is less effective. → Hold camera firmly with both hands, keeping arms close to body.

●●When taking pictures at a slow shutter speed, use a tripod and a self-timer (→86).

●●When you record pictures using the zoom, jitter often occurs. Record pictures using the following methods to reduce jitter.

Use a tripod and self-timer to record pictures.

Hold the unit in a stable position and use a viewfinder to record pictures.

Increase ISO Sensitivity or use [Shutter-Priority] Mode to record pictures with a faster shutter speed.

Cannot use [Auto Bracket].

●●Only enough memory for 2 pictures or fewer.

Recorded pictures appear coarse, or there is interference. ●●ISO Sensitivity is high, or shutter speed is low.

(Default [Sensitivity] setting is [AUTO] – interference may appear with indoor pictures.) → Lower Sensitivity (→88).

→ Increase the setting for [Noise Reduction] in [Photo Style] or lower the setting for each of the items other than [Noise Reduction] (→142).

→ Take pictures in brighter locations.

●●Has [High Sens.] in the Scene Mode been set? If so, the resolution of the recorded picture decreases slightly because of high sensitivity processing, but this is not a malfunction.

Striping or flicker may appear under lighting such as fluorescent lighting and LED lighting fixture.

●●This is characteristic of MOS sensors which serve as the camera’s pickup sensors. This is not a malfunction.
