2.7 Firmware Updates2.7.1 Updating the Unit’s Firmware
After configuring the firmware update settings in the device configuration file, firmware will be updated after
provisioning. The firmware update procedure is as follows.
1. The device downloads its configuration file from the provisioning server.
2. The device compares the version number of the firmware in the configuration file to the device’s current
firmware version.
3. If a newer firmware version is specified in the configuration file, the device downloads the firmware from
the address specified by FIRM_FILE_PATH in the configuration file.
4. After the firmware is downloaded, it is applied to the device and the device restarts.

2.7.2 Updating the KX-UTA336 Add-on Key Module's Firmware
After configuring the add-on key module update settings in the device configuration file, the connected add-on
key module (or add-on key modules) will be updated after provisioning. The add-on key module update
procedure is as follows.
1. The device downloads its configuration file from the provisioning server.
2. The device compares the version number of the add-on key module in the configuration file to the
connected add-on key module's current firmware version.
3. If a newer firmware version is specified in the configuration file, the device downloads the add-on key
module's firmware from the address specified by KEM_FILE_PATH in the configuration file.
4. After the KEM firmware is downloaded, it is applied to the connected add-on key module (or add-on key
modules).
