Clearing the buffer/All reset
Theprinter stores receiveddata in alargememory buffer. This creates aproblem when you
wantto abandonaprinting joband restart:the printermaybe holding moredata in itsbuffer
than ithas actually printed, and this unprinted data must be cleared out before restarting.
Turning power off isone way to clear the buffer, but there is another way:
1. Haltthe printing program on the computer. If printing stops immediately, the buffer is
clear and the rest ofthis procedure is unnecessary. If printing does not stop, continue
as follows:
2. Press and hold the ION ]button.
3. While pressing the ION Ibutton down, press and hold the I
button. Continue holding these two buttons down. In one second you will hear three
beeptones signalingthatthe printerhas beeninitializedto thepower-on default settings.
4. Release these buttons, make any necessary control panel settings, then set the printer
back on-line.
It is essential to halt the printing program on the computer before you do this panel
operation.
Otherwise, when you go back on-line the computer will start sending data again and the
printer will continue printing, with missing data where the buffer was cleared.
