ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS FOR THE TAPE DRIVE

Table 7-14summarizes the environmental requirements for the tape path in either the internal or external models of the tape drive. The following sections provide additional detail about these requirements.

Internal Tape Drive: Operating Temperature and Humidity

Figure 7-3provides the temperature and humidity requirements for the internal tape drive. The area within the dotted line represents the operating environment. Table 7-15defines the points in the chart.

Caution The operating temperature and humidity specifications are for the tape path. When the tape drive is in an enclosure, the ambient temperature typically must be lower than the maximum temperature to avoid exceeding the maximum at the tape path.
