OPERATION

8.2 Mower Pre-Operation Inspection/Service

Before each mower use, a complete inspection and service is required to ensure the mower is in a good and
safe working condition. Damaged and/or broken parts should be repaired and/or replaced immediately. To
ensure the mower is ready for operation, conduct the following. OPS-R-0007
All Safety Shields, Guards and Safety devices including (but not
limited to) - the Deflectors, Steel Guards, Gearbox Shields, PTO
integral shields , and Retractable Door Shields should be used and maintained in good
working condition. All safety devices should be inspected carefully at least daily for
missing or broken components. Missing, broken, or worn items must be replaced at
once to reduce the possibility of injury or death from thrown objects, entanglement, or
Replace bent or broken blades with new blades. NEVER ATTEMPT TO STRAIGHTEN,
WELD, OR WELD HARDFACING ON BLADES SINCE THIS WILL LIKELY CRACK OR
OTHERWISE DAMAGE THE BLADE WITH SUBSEQUENT FAILURE AND POSSIBLY
CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY FROM THROWN BLADES. (SGM-10)
The operator’s manual and safety signs affixed on
the unit contain important instructions on the safe
and proper use of the equipment. Maintain these
important safety features on the implement in good
condition to ensure the information is available to
the operator at all times.
Ensure all safety signs are in place and legible.
Replace missing, damaged, and illegible
decals. OPS-U- 0011_A
Check that the main dri veline securely attached
to the tractor and the locking collar is seated in
the groove of the PTO Shaft.
Inspect that the 3-point hitch pins are the
proper size, correctly installed and secured to
the tractor lift arms with retaining pins inserted.
Ensure side mowe r hydraulics are secu re at
