Adding Memory

You can increase your computer memory by installing memory modules on the system board. See page 68 for information on the type of memory supported by your computer.

Your computer has two memory module sockets. Dell memory modules designed for your computer can be installed in either socket.

CAUTION: Before working inside your computer, read the “Safety Instructions” at the front of this guide (see page 7).

NOTICE: Do not install or remove a memory module when the computer is turned on, in standby mode, or in hibernate mode.

1Save and close any open files, exit any open programs, and shut down the computer (see page 18).

2Remove all installed batteries and disconnect external devices.

3Disconnect the AC adapter cable from the computer.

4Ground yourself by touching a metal connector on the back of the computer.

5Turn the computer over, loosen the screws, and lift up the memory module cover.
