Cleaning the printer

Preparing the printer and laminator for transport

Use saved packaging materials to prepare the printer and optional laminator for transport. Transport includes moving the printer from one location to another within the same facility.

1Set the printer to transport mode using the LCD panel. See “Using the Printer LCD panel” on page 36.

2Power off the laminator (if used) and the printer.

3Disconnect the power and data cables from the printer.

4Disconnect the power cable from the laminator (if used).

5Disconnect the cable between the laminator and printer (if used).

6Allow the unit(s) to cool down before preparing them for transport.

7Remove cards from the printer card hopper.

8Remove the printer ink ribbon cartridge and remove the ink ribbon from the cartridge. Replace the empty cartridge in the printer.

9Remove the transfer film cartridge and remove the transfer film from the cartridge. Replace the empty cartridge in the printer.

10Insert the head pad on the printer thermal head.

11Remove the laminator cartridge and remove the laminator supply from the cartridge.

12Replace the laminator transport cushion and the empty cartridge in the laminator.

13Close all doors, including the input hopper.

14Remove the output hopper.

15Package each unit in the original shipping carton.

Note:

If the printer will not be used for a week or more, cover the printer with the plastic shipping bag to keep dust and other debris out of the printer.
