Before using this feature, program the desired names and telephone numbers into the directory (page 27).

1 Open the document feeder tray.

2 Adjust the width of the document guides to the size of the document.

3 Insert the document (up to 10 pages) FACE DOWN until the unit grasps the document and a single beep is heard.

Sending Faxes

Sending a fax using the directory

6 Press {+} or {-}until the desired name is displayed.

4 If necessary, press {+} or {-}repeatedly to select the desired resolution (page 37).

5 Press {>}.

DIRECTORY [±]

LTo confirm the telephone number, press {HELP}.

LFor further details about using the directory, see page 31.

7 Press {FAX/START}.

Fax auto redial

If the line is busy or if there is no answer, the unit will automatically redial the number up to 5 times.

LThis feature is also available for receiving polling (page 52) and delayed transmission (feature #25 on page 72).

LDuring redial, the following will be displayed.

WAITING REDIAL

LTo cancel redialling, press {STOP}.

If your unit does not send a fax

LConfirm the stored telephone number on the display and check that the number dialled is answered by the other party’s machine (page 31).

LThe connecting tone will be heard during dialling to tell you the status of the other party’s machine (feature #76 on page 75).
