If the arrow indicator(s) on the display point(s) to “TAD” (KX-FT78 only), “FAX” or both “TEL” and “FAX”, press {RECEIVE MODE}.

Receiving a fax manually

1 When the unit rings, lift the handset. LYou can press {MONITOR} (KX-

FT74)/{DIGITAL SP-PHONE}(KX- FT78).

2 When document reception is required, a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or no sound is heard, press {FAX/START}.

CONNECTING.....

3 Replace the handset if you are using it.

LThe unit will start fax reception.

Note:

LIf you do not answer the call within 15 rings:

For KX-FT74:

The unit will temporarily switch to fax reception. The other party can then send a fax.

For KX-FT78:

The unit will temporarily activate the answering device. The greeting message will then be played and the other party can then send a fax.

LThe received recording paper comes out somewhat longer than the document size.

To stop receiving

Press {STOP}.

Friendly reception feature

When you answer a call and hear a fax calling tone (slow beep), the unit will automatically start fax reception.

LIf this feature is not required, set feature #46 to off (page 73).

Fax reception in memory (KX-FT78 only)

When a printing problem is detected, the unit will temporarily store the received document into memory. While the document is in memory the display will show an error message and the following alternately.
