Chapter 5: Restoring a Lost or Corrupt Program

5-1 Corrective Maintenance

PLC Memory Module

A PLC memory module (ACS Part# A0567138) loaded with the appropriate program for the system purchased is provided as both a backup in the event of a catastrophic failure and as a means to upgrade the PLC program.

Depending on the system purchased, the memory module will contain:

In the event that the PLC memory becomes corrupted, the memory module can be used to reload the PLC program with factory default values. The red FAULT indicator on the PLC indicates a problem with the PLC memory or an error in the internal settings and may be flashing or on steady. Follow the procedures below to reload the PLC program.

1.Open the front cover of the PLC by pulling on the tab above the words “Allen- Bradley” to expose the memory module socket. Refer to the diagram, item 7 shown below.
